The Mortal Experience

We’ve all been there at some point another when we wonder, Why? Why this tragedy? It could be as simple as a stupid choice or as complicated as a tragic death of an innocent. Why can I not conceive? Why am I alone? Why is life so hard? Why does it all have to hurt so much? If you have yet to experience such heart-wrenching grief than kudos to you for the moment but chances are you will.

I have often hoped that I could have one more day with my loved ones that I’ve lost. Just to have One More opportunity to hold them, to tell them I love them, to laugh with them, to just be with them. However, I have come to realize that one more day would never ever be enough. I could not be satisfied with one more day. I also believed, foolishly, that it would be easier if I had an opportunity to say goodbye. The truth is being able to say goodbye does not make goodbye any easier. No matter how you look at it Death is painful.

Sure, sometimes it feels like a relief because you know your loved one is no longer in pain; physical or emotional. You might believe they are happier, if you believe they have continued on, which I do. It still hurts for you. It is the living who feel the crushing weight of grief. It is the living who have to endure the rising and setting of the sun every day, whether they are ready for it or not.

I believe that we will be reunited with loved ones someday. I believe they are happy and busy. I believe God loves us and knows our pains and sorrows. It is this belief that allows me to continue each day when the sun shines in my bedroom windows and allows me the strength to greet the day as a gift. Another day for me to spend with those I still love. To tell the ones that are still here with me that I love them. To hold my children another day before that time is lost to me.

Gratitude for who I am, who I have been able to love and gratitude for the constant opportunity to share love with others is what keeps me going every day.

Toward or Towards?

I am a Lover of Language, a Word Wrangler a Storyteller. A Grammar-tician I am not. I am always confused if it’s Toward or Towards? I’ve been told I “comma splice” but I don’t really know what that means. I want to know.
I have decided that I’m going to live a long time. I have many goals I’ve set for myself and I’m discovering that they are coming to pass whether I plan for it or not. It’s curious really. I made a set of goals for myself when I was around twelve, I revamped them around age 20 and they go like this:
Get married in the temple (check)
Go on a mission (check)
Go to BYU (check)
Become a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant (check—yes, that’s really there!)
Now here are the ones that will make me an old lady…
Graduate from BYU
Become a teacher (now it’s a college teaching job I’m going after, at the time I was thinking High School—bleck!)
So, you see, I have time to move toward my goals, or is it towards? Because I’m going to grow very old and be that 90-year-old great grandma walking across the stage the BYU graduation in 2050! Oh wait, 2055! Ha ha!
You envy me, I know it.

News Stew

All the news you need to know, and with my slant! What could be better? Welcome to my newest idea. My take on the news. Enjoy.

So I had to sigh in relief that I DID NOT renew my McAfee protection after all. Yesterday they “accidentally” provided an update that caused computers to “endlessly reboot.” Yikes! Can you imagine the frustration? Sure they provided a fix but how do you keep your computer UP long enough to download it? Glad I let that one go!

And in more technology news… Google is allowing US to see how often the Government checks up on us. Hmm. It’s kind of interesting information but seriously VAGUE. Thanks Google for making technology easy. ???

Speaking of the internet… Now we know why the market crashed. The financial “watchdogs” were “busy.” Doing what? Why watching PORN on Government computers, of course. Isn’t that what you do at work? Isn’t that lovely. Makes you want to work for the Government, doesn’t it.

And if you haven’t heard about the mom that tried to “return” her adopted son, you have now. Yep. She adopted a boy from Russia and less than a year later put him on a return flight. By himself. Just when I thought I was the worst mother in the world something like this hits the news and I’m relieved of guilt.

I get her frustration, the boy threatened to burn down the family home but she could have made a different choice on how to handle it. Now we are dealing with the backlash that could leave many orphans without willing parents that won’t send them back.

Skipping all Tiger Woods commentary (that’s an entire blog on it’s own!) I’ll just ask if you’ve seen this video? If not, you should… is he a baseball player or a gymnast? Cool!

Just when you think mankind is doomed by selfishness, you see a story like this that warms your heart.

And last, but not least (well, not for me anyway). For those of us who know her as the vapid and self-absorbed Kelly Kapoor on “The Office” can congratulate Mindy Kaling on her first book! Woo Hoo! I am always proud of new authors. In case you didn’t know she does write for the show. I follow her on Twitter and you can too!

That’s all for today folks. You can go about your business now.
